SHORT BIOGRAPHY WRITTEN BY SHERYL............... I am a very proud 42 year old mother and wife to a wonderful loving 22 year old son and an awesome husband whom support me with everything I do in my life thus far!
My life is made up of so much love and compassion for all whom I may meet along my wonderful journey. I have so much to be thankful for. I have survived breast cancer twice in my life, the first time when I was just 33 years old and again at the age of 41, in April 2011. Shocking as it may seem to me, I have overcome these obstacles so much stronger than before. My God has given me this wonderful strength and sight in the darkness when I needed it the most. He made my support, the friends and family whom have stood by my side throughout these life changing experiences. I stand strong because of the love of all around me!
Amongst these obstacles that I have encountered I have had to “learn” to walk again with my “new” amended leg. In March 2011 I had an accident and had major surgery as I had fractured my left femur. The femur bone is the strongest bone in one’s body. I now have screws, five pins and a plate as a permanent fixture to my leg. With rehabilitation, lots of exercises, swimming and physiotherapy, I began to walk again by the middle of June, without the aid of crutches. My recovery is remarkable and thanks to my God once again, I am living proof of strength and perseverance. Despite this trauma and the second diagnosis of breast cancer, I still competed in Mrs. Worldwide “Queen of Hope” 2011 in July and am honored to have won the title.
I am no super woman, am not ultra-fit, and have definitely not won any Tour de France gold medals. I am not a high powered business woman with degrees coming out of my ears. I am not Miss Universe with a body to die for. All that I am, is a normal woman, maybe a bit flawed, but definitely normal. I lead an average life with, rich with love inside me and love for others, always wanting the best for myself and others and giving my all. I am down to earth and I am only special because I have gone through something that most women my age don’t experience and I would like to share my journey with you. I am proud to introduce myself to you as….Sheryl Long!
